Here are a few of the extracts from our beloved Swami's speeches:
1. The name RAMA consists of 3 syllables.
Ra, Aa, Ma
Ra signifies Agni, the Fire God.
Aa represents Surya, the Sun God.
Ma represents Chandra, the Moon God.
The Fire God burns away and destroys
all sins.
The Sun God dispels the darkness of
ignorance.
The Moon God cools one's temper and
gives peace.
Children can hold a picture depicting the above.
2. The word Rama has the triple power of destroying sins, conferring peace and dispelling ignorance. When you utter the word "Ram", you first open the mouth with the sound "Ra". All your sins go out when your mouth is open. When you utter "M" by closing the mouth, the entry is barred against the sins that have gone out.
3. Once, when the brothers were children, Rama came to his mother Kausalya in great joy. Rama said: "I am very happy today because Bharata won in the game we were playing". Meanwhile Bharata came weeping to Kausalya. She asked him: "Bharata! why are you crying? Rama is so happy over your victory". Bharata replied: "Mother! I am very sad because Rama chose to lose on purpose so that I may win". The elder brother is happy over the younger brother's victory. The younger brother feels sad about his victory and the defeat of the elder brother. What great love existed among the brothers!
4. Once a monkey taught a lesson to a man thus: "Oh mad fellow! You make fun of me, but in fact, I am far better than you. Are you participating in the service of God, just as I did? I obeyed the command of Lord Rama, crossed the ocean and found the whereabouts of Mother Sita. I stood in front of Lord Rama like a Deena (obedient servant) and faced Ravana like a Dheera (one of courage). Likewise, you should be humble before the noble and face the wicked with courage."
Here is a short story of Hanuman's devotion
Once Hanuman was presented a pearl necklace. He plucked each pearl, placed it near his ear and with a face indicating disappointment threw it away in disgust. Surprised at this, Sita said, "Hanuman, this is a precious pearl necklace, but you are throwing away the pearls without realizing their value. You don't seem to have given up your monkey tricks." Then Hanuman replied, "O mother, I examined each pearl in order to see whether it had the sacred name of Rama in it. I could not find it in any pearl. Without the name of Rama, they are but stones and pebbles. So, I cast them on the ground.
My Gods Sri Ram and Sita stay everywhere, they are inside my heart also. Do you wish to see for yourself?" Hanuman closed his eyes and prayed with deep devotion 'Hare Ram Jai Sita Ram.' Then, with his strong hands, he beat his chest and opened and showed them the images of Sri Ram and Sita imprinted there!
